Nightschool AI: Build your first Claude Code project
Anthropic's Claude Code is an AI assistant that runs in your computer's terminal and writes and runs code for you, asking first. This kit uses it to build one real tool, step by step: a script that sorts and renames your Downloads folder, with a preview and an undo. No coding experience needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You type a few commands that the guide prints exactly, paste five prompts, and read what Claude Code proposes before you approve it. Each step is explained in plain words.
Which Claude plan do I need?
A paid Claude plan that includes Claude Code: Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise. Anthropic lists Pro at US$17 a month billed annually or US$20 billed monthly. The free Claude plan does not include Claude Code, and your Claude plan is not part of this kit's price.
Can it mess up my files?
The tool you build never deletes or overwrites a file, shows a preview first and saves an undo log. You test it on a practice folder and with the kit's check script before you use it on your real Downloads folder, and Claude Code runs in Manual mode, so it asks you before every file change or command.
Does it work on Windows?
Yes. Every command is given for macOS, Windows (PowerShell) and Linux. You also need Python 3.9 or newer, which is free; the guide shows how to check for it and install it.
Is this an official Anthropic course?
No. Nightschool AI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic. Claude and Claude Code are named only to describe the tool this kit teaches you to use.
