Live Artifacts — Dashboards That Refresh Themselves

Anthropic shipped Live Artifacts in Cowork: dashboards that rebuild from Stripe, Gmail, Slack, HubSpot, and Notion data every time they open. Why the Bloomberg-terminal comparison isn't a stretch.

Live Artifacts shipped yesterday.

In Cowork, Claude can now build dashboards and trackers that open, call your connected apps, and rebuild with fresh data every time. Stripe, Gmail, Slack, HubSpot, and Notion wire in on day one. Live for every paid Cowork plan.

Within an hour of the launch post, the sharpest framing on Threads: "Anthropic is going after Bloomberg terminal." Bloomberg costs roughly $24,000 per seat per year for real-time financial data in a persistent, always-current interface. Live Artifacts delivers real-time operational data (revenue, pipeline, inbox, team activity) in the same pattern at a wildly different price point.

Regular artifacts died. Live Artifacts don't.

Before yesterday, an artifact was frozen. You asked once, Claude rendered it, you closed the tab, it was gone. Live Artifacts flip that: open once, they stay. Each reopen calls the connectors and rebuilds with current data. One-shot becomes always-on.

The connectors are the product. Revenue, inbox, team chat, CRM, docs: almost everything an operating team runs through is wired on day one. When Stripe records a payment, the revenue artifact knows. When a lead moves in HubSpot, the pipeline artifact knows. The data is always current because the connectors are always listening.

Every artifact gets a permanent home. A new dedicated tab in Cowork holds everything you build, with version history baked in. Pick it up on a different device a week later, already refreshed with whatever happened while you were gone.

What this replaces first: the maintained spreadsheet. The Google Sheet someone updates on Monday. The Notion page drifting out of date. Live Artifacts collapses "build dashboard, maintain dashboard" into one step. The artifact is the maintenance. The ops person spending 2 hours every Monday on manual tracker updates gets those 2 hours back, permanently.

It also squeezes mid-market BI. Looker, Domo, and Hex sell seats, a setup team, and a month-long implementation. Adding a metric to a Looker dashboard takes a developer and a sprint. Adding one to a Live Artifact takes one more sentence in Cowork.

Where this fits in the three-tier model from Track 1, ask where the task lives: Head → Claude AI. Files → Cowork. Build → Claude Code.

Live Artifacts sharpens the Cowork slot. Anything that pulls live data and needs to stay current is a Live Artifact: not a one-time artifact, not a Claude Code script, not a manually maintained spreadsheet.

What founders built in the first 24 hours: a live investor CRM (Notion + Gmail), a revenue pulse with MRR and churn (Stripe), a deal pipeline with Slack mentions of deal names (HubSpot + Slack), a product feedback radar (Gmail + Slack + Notion), and a daily founder briefing pulling from all of them. All self-updating, all built in a single Cowork conversation.

Try it tonight. Open Cowork on any paid plan and say: "Build me a live dashboard of Stripe revenue this month plus Slack mentions of the word refund." Wire the connectors it asks for, about 2 minutes each. Close the tab. Come back tomorrow: same artifact, fresh numbers.

Live Artifacts makes anything ops an unambiguous Cowork call. Regular artifacts were one-shot; Live Artifacts open fresh from connected data every time, with five connectors on day one: Stripe, Gmail, Slack, HubSpot, Notion. The artifacts tab gives your dashboards a permanent home, replacing maintained spreadsheets and making mid-market BI look expensive and slow.
