Claude Tag: @Claude Joins Your Slack as a Shared Team Member

Claude Tag (launched June 23, 2026) lets entire Slack channels tag @Claude to delegate tasks — multiplayer, asynchronous, and context-building across your team's work. It runs on Opus 4.8 and is in beta now for Claude Enterprise and Team customers.

Claude Tag turns @Claude into a shared team member in Slack. Any team member in a connected channel can tag @Claude with a task. Claude responds in a Slack thread when it's done. Unlike a private chat session, one @Claude serves the entire channel — anyone can see what it's working on and pick up where the last person left off. It launched June 23, 2026, in beta for Claude Enterprise and Team customers.

@Claude has four behaviors that set it apart from a one-on-one chat.

Multiplayer. One @Claude per channel. Your whole team shares it — no silos, no duplicate requests.

Learns over time. Claude builds context from the channels it follows. You don't re-explain your project from scratch each time.

Takes initiative. With ambient mode on, @Claude proactively flags relevant info and follows up on threads that have gone quiet without resolution.

Works async. Tag it and move on. Claude can pursue a project autonomously for hours or days, then report back in thread.

At Anthropic, 65% of the product team's code is now created by the internal version of Claude Tag.

The best @Claude delegation messages include three things: a clear goal, the data sources or tools to use, and the output format you want. Claude breaks the task into stages and posts results in a thread. For multi-day projects, you can ask it to schedule follow-up work — it keeps going without you. For private or sensitive tasks, DM @Claude directly. It will use your personal connectors, not the channel's shared ones.

Admins control exactly how @Claude behaves in each channel. Each channel gets a scoped Claude identity — memories and data stay inside that channel. A Claude set up for sales work won't share context or data with one set up for engineering. Admins set which tools and sources Claude can access, cap monthly token spend per channel or for the whole organization, and review a full audit log of every task. Claude Tag replaces the existing Claude in Slack app; current users have 30 days to migrate.

Claude Tag makes @Claude a multiplayer, async, context-building team member inside Slack. Tag it with a clear goal, the right data sources, and your output format — then let it work while you focus elsewhere. Anyone in the channel can continue the task. Admins scope access tightly per channel. It runs on Opus 4.8 and is available in beta now for Claude Enterprise and Team customers.
